Randomly selected plants with root systems washed down and compared. These plants were grown under as equal conditions as the grower could arrange. No attempt to interfere or influence any step in growing or selecting the final comparison by the container manufacturer. As is clearly shown above the left root ball lacks the fibrous root mass, was smaller in caliper and fullness in top growth after one growing season. It was determined by the grower that the root ball on the right could have been stepped up earlier to a 15 gallon size without losing momentum.
